The Golden Globes was filled with many eventful moments. The first winner of the night was Zendaya, awarded Best actress in a TV drama series for her Performance in the show Euphoria. Among the big winners was Abbott Elementary which won three awards: Best Musical/Comedy Series: Abbott Elementary, Best supporting actor for Abbott Elementary won by Tyler James Williams and Best Actress, Musical/Comedy Series for Abbott Elementary awarded to the writer of the series Quinta Brunson.
The legendary Angela Bassett, who last held a GG award 1994 for the film What’s Love got to do with it portraying Tina Turner, made history by being the first person to be nominated and awarded for an acting role in a Marvel film. She won Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture for her role as Queen Ramonda in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. In her acceptance speech she paid tribute to Chadwick Boseman and thanked Marvel fans.
‘And we were surrounded each and every day by the light and the spirit of Chadwick Boseman and we have joy in knowing that, well, with this historic Black Panther series, it is a part of his legacy that he helped to lead us to we showed the world what black unity, leadership, and love looks like beyond, behind, and in front of the camera.

Thank you for embracing these characters and showing us so much love. We just made history with this nomination and with this award it belongs to all of you, all of us thank you.’

Golden Globe 2022 ceremony also saw another icon, Eddie Murphy, honoured with the coveted Cecil B DeMille award. During his speech, in true comedic style, he made light of Will Smith’s viral Oscar moment. “
